At Primrose Schools, making a difference in the world is part of who we are. From the very beginning, we have valued the importance of serving our communities and giving without expecting – and we’re not the only ones.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is more important now than ever before. In fact, 81 percent of millennials expect their favorite companies to use their corporate power for the greater good, and 90 percent would switch brands to one associated with a cause.
Giving back is foundational to who we are as an organization, and we are proud that our Franchise Owners have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their communities. They do this not only through the high-quality early education and care experience they provide to families, but also through Primrose PromiseSM CSR efforts that empower them to give back.
Primrose Promise is the corporate social responsibility program of Primrose Schools. It embodies our commitment to empower people, care for the planet and give back to the communities we serve. Our Franchise Owners are the driving force behind our Primrose Promise efforts, engaging more than 55,000 children and their families across the country through nearly 400 Primrose schools. Here are a few ways they’re giving back to their communities:
- Caring and Giving Food Drive: This month-long giving activity and food drive takes place in each Primrose school. Children raise money to purchase canned goods for local food banks while learning about how food banks and shelters help people in their community. In 2017, Primrose schools across the country collected more than 243,000 nonperishable food items
- Og’s Bountiful Books: This book drive occurs in all Primrose schools and benefits local libraries, schools in need, children’s hospitals and other nonprofits. In February 2018, Primrose School of Farragut and Primrose School of West Knoxville collected more than 1,351 books for the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.
- Days of Giving: During these designated volunteer days, schools participate in community service projects that benefit local charities. In 2018, Primrose School of NW Oklahoma City set up a lemonade stand where they raised money and collected diapers to donate to Caleb’s Cause, a nonprofit that provides diapers to babies in need.
- Spring Fling: This community event is held at each Primrose school to raise money for the Primrose Children’s Foundation® and local charities, such as children’s hospitals, foster homes and more. This year, Primrose School of Middleton raised $17,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Madison in Wisconsin and the Primrose Children’s Foundation, which in turn supported our national charitable partner Save the Children®.
Now more than ever, people expect the organizations and brands they support to act as “change agents” – and to stand up for causes they believe in. And at Primrose Schools, we’ve always believed it’s important to be strong corporate citizens in the communities we serve. In addition to equipping the future workforce with high-quality education, Primrose Franchise Owners have the rare opportunity to give back to their local communities in more ways than one. Our commitment to community service and forging a path that leads to a brighter future for all children allows our Franchise Owners to enjoy careers that are both rewarding and fulfilling, as they seek greater purpose in the work they do every day.
